I am a 69 year old Zen Buddhist priest, a "Roshi," and abbot emeritus of the Order of Clear Mind Zen. I am also a painter and enjoy the arts. I live in Las Cruces, NM. I'm a disabled Combat Veteran of the Vietnam War, I ride a Harley Dyna Super Glide with the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, Chapter 47-1. I began playing chess in the sixties after Vietnam. I was shot in the head there and after recovering, went to college. There I met Bernie Schmidt, may his memory be for a blessing, who taught me to play and insisted I study the game as part of my healing. I left playing for three decades and have just come back to the Game. Chess, in a very real way, saved my life. I just published a Zen book called "Living Zen" and it, with two others, are available through Amazon.com.
