I am Sambit Panda, an International Master from Odisha, India. I became an IM at the age of 18, securing five IM norms along the way and reaching a peak FIDE rating of 2452. Coming from a region with limited chess infrastructure, I developed largely through self-driven study, which shaped my analytical and independent approach to improvement.

I am a former National Under-7 Champion and have competed in age-group championships alongside players such as GM Nihal Sarin and GM R. Praggnanandhaa. As a player, I have a universal style and am comfortable in both quiet, strategic positions and complex, dynamic battles.

I have deep practical knowledge of specific opening systems, with strong results both online and over the board. In my coaching, I focus on modern opening preparation that emphasizes flexibility rather than memorization, ensuring students can adapt across structures and positions. I also place strong emphasis on practical decision-making, as I believe that becoming a skilled practical player is highly essential for success in modern chess. I place particular importance on systematic game analysis to identify recurring weaknesses and address them effectively.

I currently work with a limited number of students due to ongoing playing commitments.
