I was the U.S. Women's chess champion in 1989 and have the WIM title. I have written seven books (Children and Chess: A Guide for Educators; Science, Math, Checkmate: 32 Chess Activities for Inquiry and Problem Solving; Read, Write, Checkmate: Enrich Literacy With Chess Activities; People, Places, Checkmates: Teaching Social Studies with Chess; The Living Chess Game: Fine Arts Activities for Kids 9-14; Thinking With Chess: Teaching Children Ages 5-14; and Prepare With Chess Strategy) and numerous articles about chess in education. I teach online college-credit classes for chess coaches and educators interested in tying chess instruction to educational goals.
