Let man's petty nations tear themselves apart
My land's only borders lie around my heart
— Anatoly Sergievsky
(from Tim Rice's "Chess")
Above: If I mention that I'm winning, does that make me a chess nut boasting by an open fire?
Below: The trophy on the left is the Pomeroy Cup, pertaining to a year-long internal competition at my club. The one on the right is, legibly enough, the "Player of the Year" trophy, which I've now won several years running; it pertains to having the largest net improvement in grade. I have also won my club's rapidplay tournament previously, but alas, not this past year.
