My brother taught me how to play chess in the late 50's.  Being an older brother he never corrected or explained my mistakes, he just used them to beat me. I drifted away from the game for 50 years and took it up again about 10 years ago on the internet. Any improvement in my game comes from the number of games I've played and the quality of my opponents. I don't play live games and the longest games that I play are 4 minutes. I've found that, after that, I lose concentration and my end game usually fails me.

I enjoy playing on chess.com.  For the most part, people are nice and the games are enjoyable.  Please don't bother trash-talking, my keyboarding skills aren't good enough to respond and you'll probably think that you lost the game and won the verbal battle when, actually, I'm just responding in my head.

I enjoy meeting all of you.  I know that some of you take this very serious, and I understand that, but don't get upset if I don't mirror your intensity.  If the door bell rings or the toast pops I'm going to deal with that, I can play another game in two minutes.

Chess is just a game and I treat it as that.
