I am a retired urologist, in western North Carolina. I started playing chess in 7th grade and 8th grade. Completely dropped it until about 15 years ago, when I played for about a year on-line. Again dropped it until about a month ago, when I again started on-line. I am using "Tactics" and "Lessons" on this web site and reading Silmon's book on "The Amateurs Mind." My really "serious" hobby is making reproduction 18th century American furniture.
