I am an amateur at chess and have some OTB experience after playing in my first tournament recently. I am thankful that my father taught me how to play chess, however, he was not a strong player and therefore was limited in how much he could teach me. I still love the game and love the feeling I get when I see that I have improved. Chess can be an extremely frustrating game when I let it, but at the same time a real joy in life. Hopefully I will be able to improve my "amateur" game and break into the higher and less average level playing grounds.
