Sean NagleMinneapolis, United States
After becoming a chess master at age 15, I won the Minnesota State High School Chess Championship in 1998, 1999, and 2000. After graduating from the University of Chicago in 2004 and then the University of Michigan Law School in 2007, I returned to Minnesota and joined the law firm of Fredrikson & Byron in downtown Minneapolis. Since returning to Minnesota, I have been the State Chess Champion or Co-Champion every year since 2009. In June of 2013, I temporarily left legal practice in order to become a stay-at-home dad and to pursue my lifelong passion in a semi-professional capacity. I now coach several promising junior players in the western suburbs of Minneapolis. In July of 2014, based on my performance at the World Open chess tournament, I became the second Minnesota-born chess player to earn the title of International Master. In October of 2015, I resumed legal practice at Fredrikson & Byron on a part-time basis.
