I'm Andrew Scott from the beautiful country of South Africa. I started chess quite early but never got into it properly until a few years ago. My rating grew fast but after I went to compete in Nationals, I kinda "retired" from active tournaments (so my FIDE rating above is kind of out-dated...) mostly because my school doesn't seem to view chess as an important activity (even though we have one 1800 player and quite a few in the 1400's). So if you're one of those who are frowned upon/laughed at/criticized by others just because you're a chess player, I fully empathize with you!
