My Chess Bio:

..

In the summer of 1987 I met a guy who played chess and became interested. At the time I knew how the pieces moved, but nothing more. He suggested I buy an electronic chessboard (Radio Shack) and practice playing against it. I did just that, but three weeks later suffered a life altering spinal cord injury in a diving accident and completely forgot about the game.

Fast forward 20 years when in 2007 I rediscovered chess on a website called itsyourturn.com. There I played turn-based chess almost daily. A few months later I found and joined chess.com. Since then I have played turn-based chess (3 days/move) almost exclusively. In that time I have bought dozens of books and taken several lessons in an attempt to improve my game. Alas, my game has not improved. Instead, I think I have actually gotten worse. Whether that's true or not I don't know, but one thing is certain, my rating here on the website has gone down a couple hundred points in the 10+ years I have played here.

Lately however, I have buckled down on my study time at chessable.com and begun to play live games, mostly G30+30, here on chess.com, and I think I might be getting better (or just about to get better). I have thought that before and was obviously wrong, but this time I think I'm about to make a breakthrough. We will see.

If you would like to play a game, G30+30 or slower, drop me a message and let's play.
