I learned how to play from my father when I was about 8, played my first USCF tournament at 15 and acquired a rating of 1273. THAT was 30 years ago! I played in the Fresno City Chess Club and studied under Philip D. Smith, a strong expert who was since the 1950's until his passing one of California's finest players and regularly the champion in Central California. I have organized and been an officer in several chess clubs, scholastic organizations and am a past T.D. In the 1990s I was an Assistant Editor to the California Chess Journal under Allen Fifield who was the Chief Editor. I don't play for rating, just enjoyment! I am known as an aggressive player who can knock a master and lose to the C player, all in a day of fun. I generally accept challenges if I have the time to play, so let's play!!
