I am a part time English major & a full time custodian. I wish it were the other way around, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find anyone willing to pay me to read books. If you hear of something let me know. I started to dink around with a chess program on my computer & one thing led to another... yada, yada, yada... here I am on 'chess.com,' & have been hooked ever since. I know I sound like a 'chess.com' salesman or spokesperson by going on about it like this, but I have been very impressed by what a 'basic' no cost membership gives me access to. Anyhow... Why do I love chess (even though I'm not particularly good at it)? The short answer is... I don't know. But after thinking about it for a minute, partly because of its origins, it's strategy & tactical maneuvers, the fact that you can never play it exactly the same way twice, all of this & more contributes to my fascination of the game of chess. If you share my love of the game, you are welcome to challenge me to a game. If you do challenge me, be willing to engage in some light banter. I am here to play chess, but I would also like to learn a little about other folks: where you are from, what's the weather like in your part of the world today... kind of like if we were on each other's porches, like the old days or something. If all you want to do is play (& likely beat me), then 'chess.com' does have a vs. computer mode that doesn't require that you get to know it before you beat it (or visa-versa). I look forward to playing my fellow chess enthusiasts... God Bless!
