Exploring an opening is just a pathway to improve my chess. I always try to find complementary openings, currently I like the Caro-Kann & the Slav. I swear by Dorfman's Method and Silman's "Amateur's Mind" -- essentially, they are teaching the same. It's very useful to have a spiritual animal to guide the play. Mine is the lynx.
