I have a lot of hobbies, including reading, writing, geocaching, and programming computers (which is also my job), among other things.
And of course, chess 
Most of my time is taken up caring for my ten kids and my wife. In addition to my full-time job working as a programmer,
Chess is cool because it doesn't leave anything to chance. I really love the beauty of chess, particularly when playing another human being (as opposed to a machine), as a lot of the beauty to me is the psychological aspect of it. It is fascinating the different personalities involved in chess, and the vast number of ways different people approach it.
