Chess is elegant and the most beautiful game. Luck is not at work - both players are dealt the same set of pieces. I play chess because I enjoy problem solving. This is not to say I am particularly good at problem solving, but it's an activity I enjoy.
My goal is to improve my chess to the point where I can be competitive at local club level, and to exercise my mind. At my age I don't believe I can suddenly become an expert or master, but with enough study and practice surely I can improve a little each week.
