Hello everyone! In Powerful Lesson #2 we will be talking about kingside pawn targets. What this means is the weaknesses that come to the kingside by pushing the h-pawn or g-pawn.

UPDATES: We now have a website which you can subscribe to: powerfulpawns.webs.com. You can also now use the forums or the messageing box (bottom left side) to send us games to be analyzed with the PGN, your username on chess.com, and how you want it back. Also there you will find other videos and forums.

Also here is our first video in the Chess tricks and traps series (subscribe to the website OR Youtube to get these)

Now For the Lesson: *Note the games used in the video are pasted below for reference if needed.*

First I would like to show a few good games which demonstrate the Idea of why moving a pawn in front of king = suicide in many cases.

Game 1

Game 2

Game 3

KEY POINT 1: h3 or h6 should really only need to be played to support and attack for example: Playing g4 or g5 next. Or if it is absolutely needed, otherwise it is WEAK!

KEY POINT 2: Ask Is castling safe. DO NOT PLAY MECHANICAL CHESS!

Game 4

KEY POINT 5: If you want to fianchetto a bishop it is a strong defense and perfectly fine HOWEVER the bishop MUST STAY if there are pieces that can aim at the king! If it moves the g2 pawn push creates holes in whites position.

Your Homework:

1. Do not play mechanical chess!

2. Play at least one serious (slow) chess game within the next week.

Remember!! If you want your games analyzed submit them here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1t5TnemKuebVCM2whYdD72ISATJicaaeEU9ymO37bz08/viewform?usp=send_form
