The future of Fischer Chess 960: The Equalizer

Hello all and a delayed good New Year to all.

I write this because I am worried about the group. We are losing members. Two months ago we were about 30, and today we are 23 members (I know the counter says 25, but it is not up to date). It is natural that some always will leave our group or chess.com entirely for various reasons. What we are missing is new members. Most new members used to be invited by mg960mg after he had played with them and they had become friends. But mg960mg is sadly missing now. He hasn't logged in since November last year. I have no idea why, but I am worried about him and miss him.

The declining number of members is a problem because it makes it harder to have good team matches and team vote games. At our peak we had 11 participants in team matches. The match that started today has only 6.

I would like to be able to start a team match every week with at least 10-20 participants and have at least 5 simultaneous team vote chess games with several active players.

Therefore I propose the following changes in the policies in the group:

  1. We open the group so all who want can become members without being invited.
  2. We remove the requirement of 100 chess960 games completed in the public group description. I don't even think many of the current members have played so more many chess960 games. (I haven't)
  3. We actively invite more people to join. I can do that as an admin for the group. I will look for people who are already playing chess960 and not already member of a lot of groups (max 5 - 10) so they are more likely to associate with our group.

But I will not do anything if the current members don't agree with the proposals. I invite you all to discuss this. Please give your opinions about the future of our group!

Best regards,
boljen
