It seems that with every passing year, Division 2 begins to look more and more like a second Division 1. Some of the best and most competitive matches in the league have been occurring in this division, as teams continually push themselves to higher heights. In many ways, a healthy Division 2 is the most critical link to keep the league going, so I salute the efforts of all Division 2 team admins to make this possible!

After finishing in third place two seasons ago, and in second place last season, New York finally scaled the mountain, riding eight wins and one draw (after adjustments) to the Division 2 championship. Though they encountered many highly competitive matches, none surpassed their 59.5-48.5 victory over Division 1 veterans Ontario, whose 54 boards (as far as I can tell) set the new USTCL record for participation. A tremendous effort by both teams, including Ontario, which bounced back from a tough 2020-21 season to earn eight wins and promotion right back into Division 1, where they currently serve as championship contenders. A true race for the ages.

Several teams vied for third place, with four teams finishing with between 5 and 6.5 points. In the end, California was able to defeat all of its immediate rivals and secure their highest finish since the 2012-13 season, a strong testament to the steady improvements the team has made over the past few seasons. Based on results so far in the young 2022-23 season, they appear poised to challenge for their long-elusive promotion to Division 1! Alabama is deserving of honorable mention here in their return to Division 2 as the only team to take points off of New York, securing a 26-26 draw.
