Chessking_Original Wins Exciting May 12 Untitled Tuesday by Half a Point!
Chessking_original won tonight's highly competitive Untitled Tuesday tournament by half a point. There were 52 untitled players involved, the highest rated being @rychessmaster1 who started the tournament rated 2513. More than a quarter of all the players were rated over 2000.
The first round was mostly uneventful with no upsets on the first 13 boards. But the second round saw several upsets, most notably @ChessKing_original (seeded sixth) lost to 17th seed @bishop_to_e4. @Rychessmaster1 led through three rounds before being defeated by the third seed, @2007chess, who led with a perfect score through six rounds. @2007chess lost to @ChessKing_original in round 7, and then lost again to @MikeChesser in round 8 before dropping out. @Rychessmaster1 also dropped out after eight rounds, having lost three games.
In the eighth round, @Chessking_original pulled off a nice victory against @Fizzyband. Apart from one moment when @Fizzyband was down to 12 seconds on the clock compared to @Chessking_original's 1:24 and both players missed a hanging rook, Chessking_original won a very clean game.
After eight rounds, the tournament was between @Chessking_original with 7 points and @CP6033 with 6.5 points. The rest of the field was at least a point behind.
After this draw, the top two players won their last round games to clinch first with 8.5 points and second, half a point behind. @CP6033 has finished second in the last two UTT events! @Fizzyband could only draw as Black against @CrackLionIX to finish third, ahead on tie-breaks over @MikeChesser and @sapphireglacier with 7 points. @sapphireglacier was the only player rated under 2000 to score more than 6 points!
One of the tournament performances of the night was @Blackfirestorm. She was seeded 42nd with a rating under 1000. She managed to score 4 out of ten, defeating two players rated about 300 points higher than her!
The next Untitled Tuesday event will be next ... Tuesday! I hope to see all you untitled players there!
