New: Insights
We are excited to announce the release of Insights! π
If you thought there was a lot to learn from analyzing one game,
just wait until you see what we've found while analyzing all of your games. π€―
In Insights, found under the Learn section of your navigation, we analyze all of the games you've played on Chess.com. Then we group our findings into 5 sections: Games, Tactics, Moves, Calendar, and Geography. While we hope that most of these insights can teach you something valuable about your game play-- your strengths and your opportunities for improvement-- some of them are just fun to see!
When you first land on the page there are a few features you may not be familiar with,
allow me to introduce you.
The Filter Bar
We've provided a filter bar beneath your profile nameplate for you to control which set of games the follow insights are from. You can filter by: Game Type, whether you're looking at rated, unrated, or all of your games; Time Class, these are your bullet, blitz, rapid, or daily games, then finally; Date Range, where you have the flexibility to choose any range you think might be interesting.
Right-Hand Navigation
After setting the filters to a set of games you are interested in, you are ready to start scrolling. Alternatively you may use the navigation on the right of the page to quickly find the insight you're looking for!
You're all set to explore!
Games
In this first Games section, you will encounter some top-level insights that set the tone for the rest of the page. We cover findings like your average accuracy over time and accuracy by move number across your games. You may notice a few tabs in the accuracy by move number insight, and others along the page, click them! These tabs take each insight a little further. For this insight specifically we break out your accuracy by move number into each piece color, allow you to compare it to other players with a rating similar to yours, and even your own past performance!
Tactics
The next section is my personal favorite, Tactics.
In here you'll find we've scoured your games for all of the forks, pins, mates, and free pieces that you've found or missed when they were a top move that the engine recommended.
While showing you these stats alone probably would have been interesting, we wanted to make sure you had a chance to give those pesky missed tactics another shot! To view the positions where these tactics occurred simply click on the chessboard on the right of each bar. Then if you would like to retry the move. click on the board preview to be whisked away to that position in Game Review.
Moves
After you've retried all of your missed knight forks from 2018, it is time to check out your Moves. Here we uncover your move quality totals and how they have changed over time. Then we dive into how often and how accurately you are moving each piece. Finally we explore your castling; when you castle, and how those games turn out.
Calendar
Next it's time to find out when you play best by exploring your Calendar section!
All of these insights are based on the time zone set on your profile so they should be spot on. Here you can find out if you should play more on Tuesday evenings!
π Geography
Last but certainly not least, trot the globe in your Geography section where we uncover your wins, draws, losses, and accuracy in matches you've played all over the world. Have you challenged someone in every country yet?
We are SO excited for you all to check out your Insights!
As always, we look forward to hearing your feedback and suggestions you have to improve Chess.com. π
