Pedrogil2005 Has the Largest Upset UTT Victory Ever! (6/9/2020)
Pedrogil2005 became only the second player to start the Untitled Tuesday rated under 2000 and win the event, which he did in style! He beat seven opponents rated over 2000, including Rychessmaster1, who started the event more than five hundred rating points ahead of Pedrogil2005! @Pedrogil2005, who started the tournament rated 1850, was the lowest rated player to ever win the UTT, and he did it against a strong field that included @rychessmaster1 who was rated over 2450!
The tournament featured 51 players, 13 of whom were rated over 2000. @Pedrogil2005 was seeded in the lower half of the table to start, and played only one opponent lower rated than himself. He managed to score a 2451 performance rating over those nine games against higher rated players, and deservedly won the event by a full point! @pedrogil2005 does have a +2200 rating on another site, which should serve as a warning to others not to play the rating, but the opponent. We will undoubtedly see him at the top of the tables again!
Here's the game that determined the tournament winner, and created a shocking upset!
