Rychessmaster1 Comes From a Full Point Behind to Win the June 16th UTT by 1.5 Points!

Rychessmaster1 came from a full point behind in the seventh round to win the June 16th Untitled Tuesday by 1.5 points! I had managed to win 6.5 out of the first 7 rounds to take a commanding 1 point lead, but fell apart completely, scoring only .5 for the remaining three games.  Meanwhile, @Rychessmaster1 won his third UTT!

The June 16th UTT featured 45 players with Rychessmaster1 being the top seed, rated 2473 after the first round. There were 16 players rated over 2000 in the event, making it one of the stronger UTT events. This was not an easy tournament for Rychessmaster1. He is getting a reputation for dropping points in the first two rounds only to come roaring back in the remaining 8 rounds. This time, he drew against me, seeded 11th at the start of the event, in round 2, then we each won our games until round 5. He lost to the perennially tough @Fizzyband in round 5, while I continued to win all my games through round 7. By the end of round 7, I had played the other top 5 finishers, scoring 3.5/4. My seemingly insurmountable advantage vanished over the course of the next rounds as I drew to @Miss_Tical who finished 15th, then lost to @jsnagy and @Lord_Hammer who finished 7th and 8th respectively in the last two rounds.

Meanwhile, Rychessmaster1 regained his form and proceeded to win the last five rounds in a row to complete the stunning comeback! He finished with 8.5 points, 1.5 ahead of myself and @championps and @fizzyband.

This week's game of the tournament is @rychessmaster1's round 9 victory over @chesssky2, who finished 5th, but faced more difficult opponents than anyone except the tournament winner. The victory put him in sole first place for the first time in the tournament. @championps, who started the tournament seeded 9th, finished third.
