Today was the 35th birthday of Richard Madden. Born in Elderslie, Renfrewshire, Scotland he was a pupil at Castlehead High School, Paisley and later a student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. In 2007 he toured with Shakespeare’s Globe Company as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet. He has only 30 screen credits but has made his mark, to the extent that he has been touted as the next James Bond:- he was Robb Stark in Game of Thrones 2011-13, which made him widely known and for which he won two Screen Actors Guild ensemble awards, and was in Birdsong 2012, Klondike 2014, and was Prince Kit in Cinderella 2015; then for David Budd in Bodyguard 2018 he was BAFTA-nominated and won a Golden Globe; he also appeared in Rocketman 2018 and in 1917 in 2019; he is soon to be seen in The Eternals.
