Recently it was the 70th birthday of Jane Seymour, who for our purpose was memorably Solitaire in Live and Let Die 1973. Unlike many who felt being a Bond girl was career threatening, the reverse has been true for her. She has amassed 149 screen credits, highlights being 1978 when she appeared in the Battlestar Galactica film and the first five episodes of the series. She won a Golden Globe for East of Eden 1981, and also won a Primetime Emmy for Onassis: The Richest Man in the World 1988; she was nominated in 1989 for an Emmy, and for a Golden Globe 1990 for War and Remembrance 1988-9, but then achieved ever greater popularity with Dr Quinn Medicine Woman 1993-8, for which she was twice nominated for an Emmy, and three times for a Golden Globe, winning one in 1996. Born in and raised in the Hayes, Harlington, Uxbridge areas of Hillingdon in West London, she also spent years of her youth in Vught, North Brabant, Holland from whence she was sent to Geneva to learn languages. In the early part of her career she lived in Longridge Avenue, Sherman Oaks, California and now has a mansion in Malibu, having also owned and lived in St Catherine’s Court, Bath, Somerset but she still regularly visits London where her sisters live in Kew and Richmond.
