Bio
Mariagrazia De Rosa, better known as Maria De Rosa, is an Italian woman FIDE master, born in 1988 in Naples. She started playing chess at the age of six after her uncle introduced her to the game. During her teenage years, she won seven Italian Women’s Junior Chess Championships.
She distinguished herself by winning the Italian Women’s Chess Championship three times (2003, 2010, and 2013) and the Italian Women’s Team Chess Championship six times. Another of her chess achievements came at the 2008 Dresden Chess Olympiad, where she played for the Italian Women’s team that finished 12th out of 110 participating nations.
Maria De Rosa has been a FIDE Instructor since 2014. In 2017, she reached her classical peak rating of 2161 points, which placed her seventh in the Women’s Ranking in Italy. She also earned a woman international master norm in 2014.
Maria has been regularly commentating on Chess.com’s main events since the success of the first PogChamps, held in 2021. She works for the platform as a Producer, Commentator, and Director of Italian Content. She also streams regularly on her personal Twitch and YouTube channels as ParthenopeChess.
