I once watched chess on Television. It was proper rubbish. I learned the Welsh version Cwm Llynchwmryllych Pobl as a child but never got used to the round board or the sheep, or the druids, or the dragons or even the oval shaped ball. The Welsh chess champions die young it's not the stress of playing in the INCESSANT rain it's just his name - Dai Young. One day it will be me. I'm predestined. As it says in Genesis - "Ian. The beginning. There was light." Which is why I always play white. Two things I remember from Chapel: firstly - Camels can't sew and secondly - God said "The Geek shall inherit the Earth". HE wants me to play chess. Before I start each game I perform the traditional Welsh Haka - it's a war-dance that portrays the despair when the colliery was closed, the burning of the English holiday homes and finishes with a rousing dance-based representation of the big beery night out in Aberystwyth with the rugby boys. In tournament chess I usually leave out the last bit (the visiting the Brothel and the being sick on my sheep), unless I'm playing online. Hywl. Yachi-dar.
