I thought that rather than speak for everyone, I would create a forum thread and those that were interested could post something.

The Atlantic Coast Chess Club was sort of born out of an annual Mother's Day trip we take to my hometown of Turners Falls, MA. After seeing my buddies up there, we always say we should start something online as a way to encourage us to talk more, Phil (KAGE311) and I looked through the chess apps and found chess.com. Yes iPhone users, I know about Chess With Friends, its not out for Droid. Besides, I am willing to overlook a lot of little flaws for the suite of features here.

Since then, I have encouraged/harrassed several others to join:

Matty (Mattyfu), Sib (Sib37), and Lars (Lars9279) all went to high school with Phil and me. Chris (chrisdlines), Zach (zwevy), Biggs (biggitybiggs) and I play hoop together at the Wilmington Turners Club. Chris has also done some recruiting, bringing Ron (stargaazer), Cody (gladi8tor) from his West Chester soccer team as well as in-laws Brian (bcma) and Dan (DanMcAuliffe). I also roped in my neighbor Blake (balexander) and a former Kaplan coworker-turned med student Matt (mbarhight).

So if you are up for it, add a little blurb about yourself. As for me, you can find out most of what you need to know on my blog. You will also see photographic evidence of the two excuses I use over and over again for my chess blunders (thanks kids!)
