By the way, the voices on the commentary at the end were GM Ben Finegold and WGM Jennifer Shahade, for those of you who are wondering.
Gorgeous game. I also loved the analysis room commentary at the end. Was that Seriwan's voice calling the game for "the big bucks"? I think I might recognize the voice from an ESPN broadcast of Kasparov vs. Deep Blue back when chess tried for the ump-teenth time to become a televised sport.
Brutal attack, well done Sam.
No analysis of 11. Be3 was given, but I thought that looked reasonable as well.
Very nice brutality!
That was some commentary within the commentary by Ben and Jenny.
That was some impressive calculation! Keep it up, Shanky!
great game! After ...e5 was the push g5 a possibility instead of your move Bxc4?
haha, the girls voice was slightly annoying, but good game nonetheless. :)
an excellent game showing beautiful coordination and very tactical. Brutal attacks by white aka Shankland in the end game. Great video.
who was doin that voice? Otherwise it was great!
by GM Sam Shankland
Almost there! IM Sam Shankland took an outside chance of tying for first place at the US Junior Closed Championship into the last round of the main event against FIDE Master Conrad "Thunder" Holt. Don't worry, the climax of this comeback tale does not disappoint! Not only is the result what we expected, with Shankland taking "Thunder" to Ouch-Town, but the style and method in which they arrive is something to enjoy in and of itself. Check it out!
