Nine souls gathered by a captain’s hand,

A circle drawn in friendship’s shifting sand.

But in that ring, my eyes found but one sun,

The daily choice of a heart already won.

I borrowed your joy to learn how to smile,

Walking behind you, mile after silent mile;

Addicted to the strength within your grace,

Finding my home in the light of your face.
