I woudll agree especially for knights. They have computerized lathes that can turn each pawn/bishop etc. exactly like the next. Whether they use these in India I have no idea. One manufacturer in Amritsar, India talks about buying a lathe made in Germany that seems to looks like it automates the process of turning to some degree, not sure how it works. Here is the URL

One thing I've learned over the years is, that with any handcrafted items no two will ever be exactly the same, even if done by the same manufacturer and carver. Just the nature of the beast :)
