Hi friends,

I have a small question. What are the basic openings that should be learnt by a beginner?

sanath9999

According to me, the best openings for the beginners are those which concentrate on good development like -

Italian game - e4 e5 Nf3 Nc6 Bc4.

Four knights game - e4 e5 Nf3 Nc6 Nc3 Nf6.

Other openings also can be learnt. The openings which deal with early development of pieces is best for beginners.

Thank you for your reply, Sanath. Smile

There's also the queen's gambit, where you sacrifice your queen for an advantage in center control and development.

Thank you, Macer.

So, Queen is not sacrified in Queen's Gambit, right?

Well, not in the Queen's Gambit Declined.

Huh? White is better? How? White lost a Queen (The most valuable piece).

ROFL.

But he has total center control, which more than compensates for the disadvantage in material. The three basic opening principles are center control, development and King safety. Portecting your queen is not one of them.

This is lost

One of the major point about the principles of opening play is to not bring the queen out early.

Anyways, in the position shown by macer75, if I play with black pieces, then I think I can win against some world champions!!!

LOL! Yes!

macer75

Well, if the queen's gambit leads to a lost position, as you claim, then why is it so popular, even at the highest level of chess?

rishikeshwaran

Ok, we're going away from the topic!

+1 Laughing

Queen's gambit is popular but nobody sacrifices their queen in Queen's gambit. Maybe we could try that and see if we can win!!!

The problem is with the name of the opening!!!

You showed exactly according to the name.

Maybe we have to blame the person who gave the name for the opening.

LOL! Yes!
