 No.

m0xln456, That's just silly. No serious Bongcloud player would play 3 bxa3

The counter is easilly refuted after

1 e4 e5

2 Ke2 Ba3?!

3 b4!

The pawn guards the very important c5 square and if black capture with 3..Bxb4 then white play 4 Ke3!! advancing the king and opening up two dicovered attacks against the currently empty b5 and h5 squares. The game is basically won by white at this point and black usually resign.

Pro-Boungcloud!!

I think if you'll refer to Boungcloud's biography you'll find you are wrong.

We clearly need to divide into two teams here. I'm pro-boungcloud.

I believe we should institute an annual Bongcloud Memorial Tournament.
StacyBearden
Sign me up. I play black.
neneko
I'll play white!

Correct.

This is only after perfect play by black, however. Not even Fischer on his best day could have mastered this.

I think it's also interesting that declining the Boungcloud opening allows the little-known rule of allowing a pawn to promote to a King. And in a Boungcloud opening game, as we've seen demonstrated above, that can be very advantageous.

Don't you guys have anything better to do.  It is an open secret that the Bongcloud Attack (notice I can spell it btw) has been demonstrated years ago to win for white.  As such it was decided unanimously (by everybody) that the 'Lenny B' should never be played in serious chess games as it would be the end of competitive chess as we know it.

Similarly, the black second move 2. ... Ke7!!  is known to win for black in all variations.  Even against the Bongcloud attack.  Its the old argument about an unstoppable force meeting an unmovable object.

Please do not play K-K2 under any circumstances, it simply isnt fair.  And contravenes FIDE regulations.

It's a shame that Boungcloud himself never mastered, even attempted, the anti-Boungcloud strategy. I think that guy Moxin was a patzer anyways.

I believe everyone has overlooked a very serious flaw in the Bongcloud gambit. There is no way White can prevent the virtual obliteration of his weakened kingside after 1. ... g5!!!

I've run this through GNU Chess 1037 times, enough for statical data to prove with three sigma confidence (99.865%) that there is no counter measure to g5.

But why? The answer lies in the fact that the black pawn is ONE SQUARE CLOSER to the other side of the board than White's king. White's king cannot put pressure on Black's king before sustaining heavy losses.

Still, despite this setback, I have yet to look into 3. +Kf3?! which puts White's own king into check and simutanously attacks Black's advanced g pawn. More on this later.

That was an amazing variation. I would have to be an autistic savant to comprehend such tactics.

Yes, unfortunatly GNU Chess will not allow me to analyze 3. +Kf3. It repeadly crashes. However, an independent panel of experts unamiously agreed that after 3. ... gxf3, WHITE CANNOT BE CHECKMATED.
StacyBearden
But take a look at this variation.
