The Dixie-gambit
Sort:
This is an interesting gambit. If you have seen it in a game or in a book pls tell me. Else i would like to call it the Dixie-gambit :). Computer says its very playable and the position can arrive from many other move orders. White gets a huge lead in development for a central pawn. What do you think?
With a confidence of about 60%, I think this variation is crap.
White is giving up a full center pawn for very little.

you actually probably do get some compensation for the pawn as you have quite a nice IQP position where you can probably go like 0-0, Bg5, Rd1, d4-d5 quite quickly.
However is it really worth it sacrificing a pawn like this, when you can gain an edge by playing Bg5?
I'm not certain white can get in d5. Black seems to be able to stop that with c6 at some point.
White does seem to have compensation, but I'd rate it as insufficient.
Engines seem to accept white's position as ok. Practically speaking they are probably right.
