There are an odd number of players in the Women's European Championships.

The walkovers are reasonably going to players who will not be in contention.

But, at least in the beginning rounds, the higher rated players they are subsequently matched with get a "free" win against a low rater.

Going into the fourth round anyone matched against the third round bye player would also be out of contention.

But the first recipient of the free point game against SAHIN was able to move up and topple Tatiana KOSINTSEVA in the third round.
