Who is your favorite chess player?

I have one question to ask all of you chess.com users: Who is your

favorite chess player? My favorite is Magnus Carlsen mostly because

he became a grandmaster at the age of 13 and he is the number 1

chess player in the world. Those aren't really ethical reasons but it's

all I got for Magnus.  Cool

I've liked Bent Larsen since I read "Bent Larsen: Master of Counter-Attack" by Larsen (and Keene I think). Admittedly, Keene isn't great, but the games are!

I also like Kasparov because he's awesome and probably the greatest of all time.

Also Karpov coz his play is beautifully 'natural'.

karpov for me is the greatest player on the board.

Garry Kasparov. I was about five when he became champ, and it was soon after that that I took an interest in chess.

Carlsen, the champion of my heart.

Paul Morphy...the Mozart of chess....he was TOO good for his time. We never saw him at his very best. Maybe Steinitz could have pushed him..I doubt it though....and to think that to Morphy, chess was but a way to relax after a hard day at the office.

That's not true at all according to The Oxford Companion to Chess. The entry describes him as absolutely obsessed with chess, playing nonstop even during his official matches. He would play friendly games with strangers after his official tournament and exhibition games. He forced himself to give it up because he adopted his Creole parents' attitude that chess was not a suitable career choice. He was also very apathetic toward his post-chess career.

Yeah. I'd sure put my trust in David Hooper's thoughts on Morphy.

Bobby Fischer, of course!  After him, my favorite would be Capablanca.  I'm always impressed by how easy he makes it look.

My favorite is currently Capablanca

Mikhail Tal for me. I long to play those brilliant tactical flourishes he always played.
