Hexagonal Chess

Sort:

This site has Chess 960. There is another variation thet I think shoud be included. It's Hexagonal Chess. You can look it up here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hexagonal_chess.

I say that this would make the site more interesting. People would have to learn the rules but it look fun. I'm not really a big fan of 960.

What was it that our beloved NM used to say over and over again....

Oh yeah.   HOGWASH!!

hmm... It seems to jump out more when Reb writes it. I guess I need more practise.

how would rooks move in this? :P and there would be no different color bishops.....

click the link. As far as I understand, there are 3 colors here. Just click the link, it explains everything

I'd go for Glinski's starting position, or maybe the third one

This is interesting.

I've played it. It's a much more open game, because the pawns are not as effective at blocking pieces. For example, in Glinski's starting position, the middle bishop on each side can move through the pawn line. You can also move a central pawn and open up the rooks.

There are 3 different Versions of "Hexagonal Chess". Chess 960 is 1 of them, I would like to try this Hexagonal Chess this month. Also the other 2 Versions 1 with the Pawns in front of their Main Pieces has closer Resemblance to original regular Chess. The moves are very Similar to Regular Chess But NOT Identical. If I recall, Pawns can go Diagonally as well Straight Perpendicular to their Opposite 3 Hexagonal Sides. I also know that ALL 3 Hexagonal Chess Games have Unlimited or an INFINITIVE Number Exponentian Combinations of Moves Possible. This makes Hexagonal CHESSES, very COMPLEX to Master. But its better giving it a try, than be Ignorant, given this explanation, I do intend on Playing "Hexagonal CHESS". NOT concerned with "Checkmate" ,Just want the Experience Mind Enigma Stimilus of "HEXAGONAL CHESS"!!!!

I have a video on some concepts comparing hexagonal chess to regular chess (the pawn moves might be different than other hexagonal variants, but all the references to piece endgames should be the same)

Glinski's hexagonal chess is an excellent variant, as it is a logical and evolutionary extension of the orthodox game.

I would like to see any form of Hex Chess on this site, also I would get the hex chess apps for windows and whatnot (but most cost mone or come from sites i wouldnt really ... trust, so it would be really handy for me to get a vers on this site instead) (also some of the sites in this thread dont seem to work for me, ie Chexx.org, and others i dont understand how work like ) (also side note greenchess does have and allow you to play hex chess... it just doesnt feel as good as playing chess on a site like this one)

It would be fantastic if Glinski's hexagonal chess could be played on Chess.com.
