i get called a nerd a lot too. Ill be honest and say it does irritate me but honestly if getting on the A honor roll every quarter, having a better future, and being beastly at chess classifies me as a nerd, "I'm proud to be a nerd!!"

around my high school there was a strong correlation between chess club and D&D players. However, it is neither chess nor D&D that makes you a nerd. You ARE a nerd and then you gravitate to doing nerd things including collecting things, science fiction, wargames, etc.
