Donate to Chess.com

I'm just posting this here in the forums because we get this question from time to time: how can I donate to Chess.com?

Click here to send a donation

Again, we generally recommend people just buy memberships (or memberships for friends or other members), but if you are inclined to want to give even more, then you can donate with that link. And, if you want to donate money and also help out another member, then we can use your donation to give a gift membership to someone else on the site who could use it.

Just an FYI. I'm posting it here because people search the forums for help. :)

I'm expecting this thread to be Stickied by Chess.com =D

You can use your brains on this one, to improve chess.com =D does it cost money to do so btw? its just using your computer and altering some stuff, unless it costs to "upgrade" new features on. Also, if erik is so dedicated to this website, he should at least get a little money =D

It's pretty obvious that by donation they mean money.

ah, you are mistaken :) ad revenue barely covers bandwith and server costs.

That number is for marketing. An internet lifetime is short. You are seeing dead people.

Apoapsis

If one has some money to burn, it's possible to "do good" apart from the non-profits.

We all tend to think that chess is "good" and that someone less fortunate will become happier with what a membership here provides.

I'm mostly ambivalent on how much good is done but endorse that what we have is both fun and harmless.

Give to the homeless instead. Erik is a greedy capitalist and runs big corporations and has thousands of servants.

because sometimes small businesses ARE like non-profits :) ask my wife!

Why would you give donations to a chess site when you can donate to red cross or another humanitarian organisation and actually save human lives?

Because humans are egoistic... why would you by a new car when you can donate to red cross or another humanitarian organisation and actually save human lives? Cause you want a new car and you want a cool site to play chess  :p :(

Have you seen this man on chess.com?

I find it amusing that folks think giving to a non-profit is an altruistic act.

I gave at the office.
