If you have any ideas on how to make Chess.com better, please let us know! Could be small things, big things, dreamy things, easy things, impossible things (nothing is impossible for Jay & Piotr!)... Just tell us if there is ANYTHING you would like to see improved!

It would be cool if we could have a archive of puzzles.  so that you can do some puzzles that you didn't have access to before you became a member.

Uhmm.. Can we put a timer on our puzzle?

So that we can distiguish if they really solve the puzzle. This will be more exciting, because they like to beat the best time solved in the Puzzle.

other features:

sort on all articles if possible or have a search on it or a search for anything that may be in forums or articles or blogs

not sure if the feature is there, but is there an audible sound once a move has been made by an opponent?

Individual PGN games are available, but if I want to go to a player and collect all his available games, it would be nice to have a PGN ALL button to grab all the PGN games of a player to download and save and study.

change your "stategy" to "strategy" for one of the article sections

Any way to spell check before an article is submitted?

a neat feature would be to put some opening moves in some window and, if possible, you would get the name of the opening and variation, perhaps ECO designation, or any other useful information onthe opening

if you are going to conduct business or money through PayPal, perhaps some explanation of how it works or how to set it up, etc.  Not everyone knows what that is all about.

perhaps an archive of chess photos and names or captions associated with it

game of the day or week or month from games played here; perhaps a brilliancy prize awarded to the best game

list of places or countries that all the members are from

a chess almanac - who was born or died on this day, including members who was born on this day  - sort of a happy birthday to them

hrmmm. it is unlikely we will have this built into the regular puzzles. but, in our upcoming product called "Neverending Tactics" we will have this feature :)

Tournaments would be fun Cool

Yeah I like the brilliancy prize awarded to the best game maybe in our online chess if possible ("Hard work scanning all the games"Laughing).

another good feature would be, when u get into analysis board, for the details tab to refresh the number of pieces taken and represent the number with the analysis board and not stay from the original board, just so in the end of trying to figure out a situation maybe it would be a bit more clearer to see how many of which pieces were taken and if you've lost by the points or won! thx

bill:

1. SEARCH - "sort on all articles if possible or have a search on it or a search for anything that may be in forums or articles or blogs" - i'm not sure what you mean here. there is a search box on almost all pages - articles, news, forums, blogs, etc. there is also a site-wide search box at the top-right.

2. SOUND - i just assumed people WOULDN'T want a sound when it was their move. i guess we could put that in the options!? if we get 20 people who say they want sound, i'll do sound! :) but what would that sound say?? we will have sounds on live chess for sure.

3. PGN BUNDLE - that is already available! just go to a player's chess page and hit SELECT ALL, then DOWNLOAD and you will get a PGN bundle! (i love it when we already have the stuff, but feel bad that is isn't more obvious...)

4. STRATEGY MISSPELL - will be fixed shortly :)

5. SPELL CHECK - yes! we already have this as well! just click the icon with the ABC and checkmark under it just to the right on the [-- Font size --] dropdown in the text editor ;) then you can click on words with squiggley red lines for suggestions!

6. OPENING TOOLS - coming in the future!

7. PAYPAL? - we won't be using paypal. just normal CC transactions.

8. CHESS PICTURE ARCHIVE - interesting... kind of like the video gallery but for chess photos? who would submit these? what about copywrite issues?

9. GAME OF WEEK/MONTH & BRILLIANCY PRIZE - would someone like to volunteer to be the editor of this!? if so, we can definitely do it!

10. COUNTRY LIST - yes! we have something VERY exciting like this coming up really soon! :)

11. BIRTHDAY ALMANAC - hrmmm. i'll have to think on that one. are you volunteering to gather all the birthdays!?!?!

ah... good point. that is not as easy as it sounds :) that probably won't happen for a long while...

TOURNAMENTS - coming in the near future...

Dang, you're so on top of things! Laughing

if you've heard of gameknot.com they have it like that, also what they have, that i find a bit more convenient is when it is your move, they actually make the browser pop a window up which makes sure that you are aware that it's your move. it's just that when i am doing something other than being on the internet i dont usually notice the flashing Your move but if it pops up and the whole browser is involved in it, that makes u pay more attention! :)

It might be really neat if you could, at the end of a match on online chess have an option (say, where analysis board is during the game), that allows you to automatically create a post in the analysis forum with the pgn uploaded, thus integrating that section of the forums with the games themselves.

But then again it's really no hassle downloading the pgn and reuploading it, and otherwise you might end up with waaaay too many posts to read in that section...

I do not known statistics about registered user's countries, but localization/internazionalization of the site could be a nice feature (...not so urgent, however).

You could evaluate the possibility of community help on this point (e.g. like in open-source projects)

I have noticed that the alerts box regarding new comments to forum or blog posts is only available if you go to "My Home" section. I think it would be nice to have this alert box when you just access the main page, so you can check what you have pending first.

Another thought... how about simultaneous once live chess goes live?

Brilliant work with the site, I've never witnessed a small operation stay bug free and add so much stuff so quickly!

Oh, and since you host Facebook Chess, how about working on some integration of the two communities...

Maybe we could have an option "post this game for GAME OF MONTH". And people would vote for the best game. One would be able to post one game only (each month). What do you think?

yeah. i've thought of this. the effort of copying/pasting may be the appropriate filter to keep junk out :) but it also may keep great games from being posted. hrmmm.... unsure!

thanks for the kudos! integration with facebook is a long way off. not easy AT ALL and unclear how well they would mix.
