Music: The F-List!

I like Fugazi I've got the Furniture EP and Repeater + 3 songs I think that's what it's called.  Certainly not the best all time in my opinion but good yes!

TheAOD

I would put Sinatra in the S list but awesome song none the less!

Fine Young Cannibals, Good Thing

Fat Boy Slim, Going Out of My Head gets my vote.

Good choice!

Something from Foo Fighters would be nice but it would depend on how die hard a Nivana fan you are.

Love Nirvana, hate the Foo Fighters!

TheAOD

I like the Foo Fighters but I think there hasn't been a good radio single since that "All My Life" song.

I used to have the clear guitar that he plays in that video.  It's kind of rare made by Ampeg.  Mine had really bad intonation so I traded it for something else.

The best Foo Fighters' song to me is "Everlong."

I think comparisons to Nirvana are irrelevant.  Dave Grohl is a huge rock star regardless of Nirvana and Foo Fighters should be judged on their accomplishments and failures independently of Kurt Cobain.  It's got to be really hard to do anything in life after your lead singer blows his face off.  Imagine reinventing your whole future. I think it shows character and I give him just as much credit for the success of Nirvana as Kurt.  They were not as good until Dave joined the band.  No band can be good without a GREAT drummer.  If you list the best bands, hidden behind that list is a list of the best drummers (with a few exceptions).  Dave Grohl Rocks! They wouldn't be at the top of my list though....

He's no John Bonham or Phil Collins or Keith Moon, or that fellow with Def Leppard with one arm (can't recall his name now).

TheAOD

The guy from def leppard wasn't that great in the first place and nothing he played with one arm is something any good drummer couldn't do with the proper equipment.  I think you could add three or four names to that list and it still doesn't mean he isn't one of the greatest ever.  Every great Nirvana song has a memorable and brilliant drum beat.  He is unbelievable and as time passes will be elevated to John Bonham status.  Bonham and Moon (just like Cobain and Hendrix) had the "benefit" (if you could call it that) of dying early.  When an artist dies before his time he is always held in higher esteem than he would be otherwise.  This doesn't detract from their achievements but my list of great drummers would be different.

1. John Bonham (zeppelin)

2. Ginger Baker (cream)

3. Bill Ward (Sabbath)

4. Neil Pert (Rush)

5. Lars Ulrich (Metalica yeah I said it!)

6. Matt Cameron (Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, Pearl Jam)

7. Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters he played on the 1st two records)

8. Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers)

9. Mitch Mitchell (Jimi Hendrix Experience)

10. Stan Lynch (Tom Petty, The Eagles)

This list doesn't include any of the great session players but keep in mind that all Steely Dan's drummers were wicked awesome.... Also I'm only speaking of Rock Drummers here; we all know there were great R&B players and jazz players as well.  This is just my opinion though.

Good list!

TheAOD

Have a hard time believing that.  Might be a myth....  Even if it's not, he's awesome now.  That's all that matters.  I don't really care for early metallica anyhow.  I believe they are the most talented Rock band ever.  I think even St. Anger has awesome songs on it.  Haven't heard the new one yet.

Modern drummers don't play anything it's all manufactured with a program called Reason.  I've seen Lars lay down awesome stuff on live video and I think he's incredible.

TheAOD

Oh and this whole thread is relatively pointless...  We're just sharing thoughts on music.  No offense is meant or taken....
