time outs

when games time for what ever reason, I realize the online games are correspondence games if someone dosnt make a move like the first move or dosnt respond to the first move it counts as a win because of time and really the game hasnt been played and you gain points to your rating Im not sure what Im trying to say here but is there a way that points are not gained or lost if there are no moves of course thats just the way it goes I supose any thought on this

If a game ends via timeout with less than three moves per player, a win is counted but no points are given or lost.

how I lost so many games on time I thought I was protected,I read that in text for premium members^

Auto-timeout protection only lasts as long as you have vacation time.

You must have run out of vacation time.  If you have vacation time on you account now it is due to the new system of adding vacation on the 1st and 15th of each month.

Less than four moves, timeout or not, does not affect ratings

The four-move example is from a standard starting position. My assumption is that in a thematic game where it is Black's turn at the start of the game it would be at Black's fourth move that ratings would be affected.

thank you for the information,I remember a game or heard about it that bobbi fischer In a famous match when he was white would wait to the last to make the first move with the white peices, likr reading the paper and stuff like that.
