why resign you can allways play it out for a draw?

look at this game, i played black. feel free to leave coments on the game and also please explain the point of resigning.

he resigned because he was clearly beaten at that point. no way could he have won. more people would prefer him resigning than him dragging the game out.

so what if he couldnt win, he could get stalemate or i could accedentaly run out of time or...

Why resign? He had no pieces left. Duh.

"4. Bg5 awkward" (your words) and then you come up with 4. ... Nf6 ("????? are you trying to lose" Your words again), worse than awkward, it loses a piece to 5. e5.

I won't go over the whole game ... it's pretty miserable.

How would that be any fun for your opponent? And isn't the point to have fun? Have you read any of the several threads on here with the main message "why won't my clearly lost opponent resign?"

    5. e5 h6 6. Bxf6. You lost a knight on f6. and with your poor choice of 5. ... h6 now you're also losing a rook on h8.

I think it's funny that there's both this thread and another about a guy that's annoyed his opponent won't resign on the same board.

never resign... its just saying i cant compete with you, rather than you beat me

You were really lucky,if i played white i would have immediately played e5 attacking your knight which is pinned. If white had played that he probably would have had this game.He wasn't alert enough.I think that is what loomis is trying to tell you.You would have to sacrifice the knight to save your queen

Guys, relax a little bit. I am sure that gateman234 wasn't trying to start an argument amongst everyone. I am here to have fun. Lets give him a break. He obviously doesn't give up (in chess). I made bad moves upon bad moves. It was a poorly played game and I couldn't bare to play it any more with my head high. He defeated me. If you would like to watch another game with us I am sending him a challenge. Hopefully he will accept it, and I will play a better game.

Yeah I think resigning contributes respect, that the opponent is capable of completing the game. The fun for both players is over once the game is already won. No use fighting for extra moves or something

Gateman 234 : Why should your opponet spend what may be weeks carrying on a clearly lost positon when you could start a new game and learn from your mistakes. Loomis is right in everything he has said, read and learn from him. And out of respect for your opponent, don't call them 'noob'. I'm sure that when you have made simple mistakes, like in this game, better players would consider you a 'noob', remember 'noob' is a relative term!

Players which don't resign in positions like this are not a serious chess players. They are beginners.

i'm siding dalmatinac on this time.

how could you win the game in that position, and you're still asking for a reason?

    no, you didn't understand me.

i meant that white has no chances to win this game, and my question is why gateman is still asking why ru4pro resigned. (as a serious question)

According to dalmatinac I'm an idiot or a beginner (its up to you) because I would not resign in this situation. I'm in a game in which I've lost a lot of pieces. But that doesn't mean I am checkmate already. So its the challenge for my opponent to get me checkmate and it's a challenge for me to get my left pieces stuck or offered and than come to a stalemate. It's difficult for me but its a nice challenge and I think fun for my opponent. I think its also not disrespectfull. When your soccer team is winning do you want the opponent to leave the field?? offcourse not. Thats disrespectfull!!!
