So... I take it there are no mods on this forum, or rules of any kind about spamming off topic? Or posting 5 times in a row?

And there was me worrying that I had somehow shattered the serene peace of chess.com forum with my inappropriate post. But now I see that quite possibly everything here is inappropriate.

Don't get me wrong, I like dogs. It's just I don't visit this forum much, so can't be expected to know this stuff...

Well I'm sorry if I came across as lording over my victory. Though I was quite pleased with the last few moves, there really isn't much to brag about here.  I know better players would consider most of my moves to be questionable blunders, so I have little reason to be cocky about anything. I was just happy to win, and happier that my opponent turned out to be the kind of person who deserves no mercy. And I really do like those checkmates, why doesn't anyone want to talk about that?

As for gloating... Seriously? That is kind of 90% of what Game Showcase is about from what I have seen. Occasionally I see people post games that have something genuinely interesting about them, but most of what I have seen here are people posting really long boring games and giving themselves double exclams all over the place. At least this game is short and sweet.

I'm not really that upset about the guy quitting the game. I just went and got a drink and chatted in other window till the time ran out. It's happened to me loads of times before, I'm pretty used to it.

I wanted to post the game because I thought the checkmate was kind of cool. Normally I wouldn't bother because people can see the names, and I know I wouldn't like someone posting my embarrassing loses here and gloating over them. I certainly wouldn't want to do that to someone who was friendly and who I had a nice game with.

But obviously with this guy, I really didn't see any reason to hold back. Obviously I wasn't expecting quite the response I got on here. If I have inadvertently angered everybody, then I'm sorry.

I really don't know what else to say. I'm really sorry, and humbly apologise. In future I will try to conduct myself with more class I'm sure.

That aside (hopefully), Does anyone want to talk about the game? No? Ok :)

Don't worry about it, I've seen people brag about worse games.

I'm not sure why people are so keen on protecting an arsehole from supposed humiliation anyway, just because it's against house rules. Let the mods take care of that, I say name and expose, because I don't want to play them.

Holy crap! Someone posted 5 consecutive times?!?

Thanks Scottrf, I knew there must be some alright people here :)

I don't think these guys actually care about protecting the guy who quit. What happened was I backchatted (responded to) Goldendog. Even though his post did just amount to a vapid 'post count +1'. I was very polite, but I guess some people are really sensitive about their e-ego.

So now I have to put up with his little sidekicks like TMIMITW trying to troll me.

I give up TMIMITV, you are clearly just more e-macho than me. I promise not point out when any of your friends are being pointless ever again. Just please don't hurt me ok.

If you find yourself in a more "substantial mood," you can respond  in a point-by-point fashion, as I did to your post, if you find it in error.

It's funny how someone who agrees with you is a finally found alright person.

Really?

What the hell. Personally I will always post, in games that I win, draw or lose, the name of my opponent. Even if it's a horrible game on his part at points (no biggie, everyone plays horrible chess from time to time). And if he was being rude and/or disconnected, I will note that as well. In public. Don't act like a prat if you don't like people knowing about it.

I didn't really come here to make enemies and fight with people goldendog. And yes I think someone who is being nice and showing a little understanding, giving me the benafit of the doubt etc... Is most certainly alright. It is not a double standard.

You and your cronies on the other hand have been less than friendly. Even though what I said really wasn't that bad, and I said sorry a bunch of times   for if I came across other than how I intended.

If that's not good enough for you, then I really have nothing else to say to you. Apart from maybe, please don't talk to me anymore. Thanks.

Scottrf

I think better for him was 12...f3, after Bxf3 and Nxf3 you seem to win no more than a pawn.

I think anyone giving the thread a unbiased read will conclude that I was fairer to the op than he has been with me.

I'm not sure why you would criticise someone for gloating in the 'Game Showcase' forum?

I just fixed what was happening, just in case others might be confused. He showed up to name and shame while gloating.

You can admire him for it, but the naming and shaming may get an edit and a warning, as it's against site rules. And it did.

Who said I admired him for it?

I could go into every topic in this sub-forum and criticise someone for gloating, I just think it's pointless.

^ (#36) Pretty much what I was going to say. I've seen worse gloats too tbf.

I haven't seen the game, but is it possible that the OP views it as a clever sequence by himself leading to a mate, whereas goldendog views it as the OP gloating over his opponent falling into a trappy mate sequence?

Nothing particularly wrong with being proud of something IMO.

Looks to me like it wins at least a pawn even if the opponent doesn't fall for the mate.
