Yes there are things the programmer can do to improve this situation (for the user to accurately control/recognize if a disconnection has occured in his side), but that is a lot of works to ask for.
When the server said that you have abandoned the game, I'm pretty sure that the server was right, that your game "thread" has been disconnected (not your entire connection). Anoying yes.
If you have bad internet connection, it is your risk to play in such situation.

I know , What I am Talking. If it was random I would have accepted it. It only when the other party is about to loose the game it has happened. By the way I am Trained computer programmer, There fore do not teach me that it is my bad luck. I am dead certain that there were some glitches in the progamme that caused it. My aim is to point it out.
Last night , When the apponent has one last move left to checkmate, he abendoned the game till his time ran out for full 8 mins, the server gave as time loss. in place of abendonement it could be easily be corrected. I know they are subterfuse, but unsportsmanlike. The thrill of the Game of chess is defeated. If nothing could be done, then so sad, Once was wrned I for my comment on unusual delay in making amove by the apponent by an observer. I presume some moniters the games. I am Col ID SHARMA (Retd) . I have noted that when ever i am in favourable position, due to reason not known to me the cnection fails. my connection is in workin order either the connaction of the apponent has failed or the server of the site got disconnected, for both I am not responsible. but both times the game has been awarded to the apponent, declaring that I have abendund the game . Is there any method to investi gate and set things right. Each time I have been Penalised 9 points to reduse my rating. Even though this rating means noting. But one gets hurt.
