Capablanca Vs. Reinfeld

I'm looking for a game played by Capablanca and Fred Reinfeld.  I understand the game "probably" happened, but I can't find a record of it.  I checked megabase 2012 and several websites.  Anybody else know of this?

Thanks for any advice.

Did someone tell you they played or are you just figuring they played because they were in same era?

I had a look in my database and found no such game.

I'm not even sure Fred Reinfeld played in the same era than Capa, but I may be wrong

According to wikipedia, their playing careers overlapped in the 30's. Capa was semi retired and Reinfeld was starting out.

I don't know if this counts...

I looked in three books - The immortal Games of Capablanca (written by Reinfeld), The Unknown Capablanca, and Capablanca: A Compendium...by Winter.

The only thing I found was in the last book, pages 246 and 247. Capablanca played a simul on Feb 12, 1931 in New York. He played 200 players consulting in teams of four, and Reinfeld was one of the participants. It was held at the Seventh Regiment Armory under the direction of H. Helms. A detailed writeup of the event was in the 1931 American Chess Bulletin (February, pages 21-22; March, pages 45-56; April, page 80). Winter states that Capablanca scored +28 -6 =16, but he doesn't say who won the game Reinfeld participated in.

Thanks all. I was told the game was rumored to have happened. I bet that simul was the cause for the rumor. I appreciate the research and help.

I found the simul game, it's in chessbase.
