hmmm....anand fans I would be pretty worried at this moment if I was you :D

MrDamonSmith

Magnus has a win expectancy of 6.5 out of 10 this tournament. He would have to score 8.5 to break 2900.

DrCheckevertim

He makes it look so easy.

I'm proud of myself that I thought Qxa4 was a terrible move and it would lose the game, then I looked at the annotation and it had a ?? Smile

Anand is strong but for Carlsen the strongestness is required.

Love..

Mamedyarov was already lost when he played Qxa4 so the question is how big a blunder it was, maybe he preferred a quick loss with some chance that Carlsen would miss some tactic rather than an endgame grind that just lost slower.

WanderingPuppet

qxa4 was the only move to play besides resigning.  and the winning line is like an 18 ply calculation and/ or just knowing the king can go to g5 and g6.  giving rd6 a full question mark is a bit harsh considering that white has a permanent advantage after rd6 also.

i wonder what carlsen had in mind against 19...Nb8!? gg

JustinJ_FairfieldU

Carlsen is head and shoulders above everybody at this time. he's just amazing

43. Kf4 isn't much of a mistake either, it wins very quickly without complications, even if it isn't the move the engines prefer.

Black had one of the worst Bishops I have ever seen, especially at such high level chess. Shak may as well have been down a piece.

Carlsen beats Mamendyarov with white ... well, no surprise here.

MrDamonSmith

He has white again against Naka tomarrow.
