That was not a chess puzzle. Black can never have 11 pawns in a chess game.

ratings mean nothing

I'm mostly amazed (or confused) by the number of rating systems.  I know the official one is USCF, but what I'm referring to is other websites I've visited.  One (unnamed site) in particular I played on awarded me 200 points for one game I won against a played rated 30 points higher than me.  Great for the ego, but not worth much in my opinion

USCF is only "official" in US. Other countries all have their own national rating systems. FIDE's world wide rating is the most officiel rating you can get.

The unnamed website which awarded you 200 points probably used the Glicko system, and gave you 200 points because you start with a high "ratings deviation" (RD) meaning that the rating value is very uncertain and will change very quickly. As you play more games, the RD value will decrease, and the rating value will change slower as a consequence.

anyone knows how the tournamnets work?

Here is a problem as I see it.  One joins a site that starts him at 1200 - supposedly the average of all who start - at least that is what they say.  But,.............  you know you are around 1900 rating (when joining, there is no opportunity of informing admin that your rating is about 1900).  So,,,,,,, you begin your life on the new site by winning and winning and winnig (because they pair you with low ranked opponents).  OOPS, they send you a message that you are cheating and henceforth, big brother is watching - with the penalty being you get kicked off the site (and by the way, they keep ypur money).  therefore, one becomes paranloid about making that winning move (s) in other games thinking tht at any moment, the axe will fall.  Does not seem quite fait does it?
