Just out of my own personal interest, who is the highest rated player on Chess.com? I have seen a player rating 2851 and I was just wondering if that could be beaten.

I asked the same question about a month or so

Note that some of the highest rated players have not balanced their ratings out

Thanks Vivinski, that's a cool link!  On the first page, the rating range is from 2833 down to 2566 (over 350 points) ... by the second page (the top 100 players), the last guys are 2499 (range of merely 67).

You drop less than 200 points more in the next 8 pages, as the top 500 finishes just above 2300.  That's the bell curve at work.

I'm 50, and only got serious about Chess in the last 10 years or less.  I wonder what my ceiling is?  Is chess like learning a language, where it's easier to absorb when you are younger?  Or can my mind, working at a calmer pace in my more 'advanced' wisdom (euphamism for old man?), perhaps improve more now?

Interesting stats!

Wow, that must have been the result of a LONG winning streak!  You'd have to win like 30-40 in a row against great players to move from 2800 to 3000!
