I looked through the settings. I don't think there is a setting that you can change related to the clock color or style. It is supposed to just happen.
Possibly your clock display color stays black while adjustments are made for lag. (This is done automatically. It is not something you can control.)
What type of device are you using? Is this a problem on a phone app?
