Interesting Conversation

You may be right, but you used a program too. One of the things I love about chess is the gentlemanship (or lady) that is expected of a match. Whomever I play I am respectful (unless a long time friend, then some trash-talking is common, but only in jest). This also means no cheating in any form. Did you assume your opponent was a cheat before you played him and thus cheated yourself? Why play him at all then? Why aggrivate yourself and give him a potential win?
Find true opponents who enjoy the game for the game and play them. You may be right in revealing a cheater but in my opinion you disgraced the game by cheating yourself. I see your profile as the opposite_alternative, so hopefully there is a true player within.

Logic anyone?
"This was a 3 minute game. High rated players avoid speed games like the plague..since it actually ruins their long game."
1. as far as I am aware, Blitz chess does not ruin your long game -- where is the evidence and the testing for the claim?
2. even if (1) is true, for the fact a player accepted a 3 0 game cannot be used as evidence to suggest he/she is not a master. --- it doesn't suggest a thing.
"No responses indicates rudeness...real SMs are generally not rude and will at least acknowledge you."
Another weak claim; firstly the link between silence and rudeness is not neccessarily clear, secoundly "real masters" come in all shapes and sizes -- they will not all be helpful.
therfore the arguement that "his guy is a fake, he doesn't talk to me" is complete twoddle. (rubbish)

Speed chess can wreck your long game in the short term
although you can always re adjust
just not easy to do so imediately
after playing a few games of bullet chess then changing to standard after you feel rushed and you don't change gears imediately
although you can throughout the game
just personal preference and what they are comfortable with
also not all standard players can play bullet
Kasparov is a perfect example
highest fide rated player ever
and yet not that strong in bullet
This is an exerpt of a conversation from a game that I played the other day on POGO vs. a long time member of the site who is "supposedly" are real life Senior Master (2403). I was masquerading as an Expert level player (2182). I was using an outdated program called Chess Tiger that is known for being among the most aggressive of programs. I will denote what I said as "C" for cheater and my opponent as "O". This was a 3 minute game. High rated players avoid speed games like the plague..since it actually ruins their long game. Already I passed judgement that he was a chess program.
c: good luck.
o: no response.
c: I love this variation....it's pretty rare. You play it often?
o: no response.
c: where you from? Wisconsin here.
o: please...no talk.
c: sorry. (we're in the middle game now and this guy just ripped through the Sicilian like it was his ABCs. No responses indicates rudeness...real SMs are generally not rude and will at least acknowledge you. Transposing a progs move takes concentration. Even I can hold a conversation while going through the motions of a memorized opening if I was playing for real.)
c: ????? You want to undo that move. Chess Tiger's score jumped to a +2.66
o: nah. your program's too good for mine.
c: huh? (1:40 left in the game for me 2:02 for him)
o: what are you running? Rybka.
c: what do you mean? What's Rybka? (my score is now 3.8 with a bit over a minute left for me and he has 1:50. I play for brute strength and worry about the time later..this guy obviously was so afraid of running outta time he moved so fast and thus made inferior moves.
As the time wore down I was barraged with insults that which I cannot print here. The table was private so he didn't have to hold onto the Senior Master persona and let his 13 year old self be revealed.
I was bombarded with repeated requests for undo and draw until I checked the box that wouldnt allow him to ask it repeatedly. It's hard to do while youre transposing moves and trying to deal with 20 seconds left.
He'd stand up from the virtual seat and quickly sit back down to throw me off as the seconds ticked away. He had the luxury of having over one minute to my 12 seconds remaining. Chess Tiger showed a score of +8.4 and mate was about 13 moves away. Alas, in the end, my time expired and I lost.
o: thanks for the points, chump........you (expletives deleted). And he left. What got me steaming mad is that this boy was undefeated and I do so love to defeat the undefeated. In my mind, though, I did win, but the clock got in the way.
He really layed in to me after he won and didn't even give me the time to tell him to take back his program because his freeware gnu-chess just isnt competitive. You win some and you lose some. I logged on to another account of mine and shadowed this punk and was surprised to see him act like a complete gentlemen and spoke like a 50 year old Senior Master.
It just goes to show you that either: little boys with programs DOMINATE the free chess sites, or 50 year old Senior Masters cry like little babies when they offer you up a knight for free or trade a rook for a bishop and blame their incompetence on you. HOW RUDE! Either way you look at it...internet chess AINT REAL CHESS.
